Jim Tillers Allard - 'The Old Fella'Allard J2 Spec -
The “Old Fella”, as it is affectionately known, is a 1952 Allard J2
which is far from standard. This 50’s street car is now a
full-blooded racer in every respect! The big block Chevrolet V8
engine that now powers the J2 produces 800+ BHP and has completed
the standing quarter mile at the Brighton Speed Trials in 9.3
Seconds, with a terminal speed of 132 MPH. This car has been to
Bonneville Salt Flats to compete in high-speed runs, topping 197
MPH. The run should have been faster but, alas, aerodynamics are not
a 1952 Allard J2’s strong point.
The car also runs a 500+BHP Chevrolet small block engine. This
engine replaces the big block for circuit racing, sprints and hill
climbs. The car can be seen racing in the Eight Clubs meeting at
Silverstone amongst various other outings up and down the country.
